I'm perusing the tracks, now, and I can confidently say that it's a great listen, brother. Solid production, spot-on, honest and unapologetic playing, powerful vocals and some big, layered harmonies.Great work!

Vandaag kwamen mijn "eenvoudige" zilveren bullet plugs binnen.. ;D

Omdat ik zo een verschrikkelijke hekel heb aan plastic en omdat de kop van de Eichmann het belangrijkste deel is heb ik besloten om een nieuwe huls te maken.....juist ......van hout.

Nou dat is moeilijk werk hoor.....not for beginners... :-X

Eerst een aantal ebben hulzen laten barsten en toen over na cocobolo...meteen besloten om ze per stuk te bouwen...enfin na een aantal uur kwam er eentje ongehavend uit de strijd.... 8)

Foto 1: met een zeer kleine gatenzaag een huls uit een cocobolo balkje gehaald...

Nadat de huls verder met een rattestaart is uitgevijld (met boortjes knapt het !!!!!!) is het schuurwerk aan de beurt

Dat plastic niet de beste oplossing is begrijp ik, maar wat voegt (in theorie) hout toe? Is dat een vraag die (simpel) te beantwoorden is?
Elke mod die je uitvoert maakt me jaloers met hoeveel "gemak" en vakmanschap je deze lijkt lijkt uit te voeren. Ik zou graag eens een keer luisteren naar de set met voor mij referentiecd's, is dat bespreekbaar?

Als je goed leest zie je dat helemaal niet gemakkelijk was....de ebben hulsjes braken blijkbaar ...te hard voor zulk klein werk?

Maar het is net als al die klusprogramma's op tv: Het lijkt allemaal vanzelf te gaan maar het kost echt een hoop moeite en tijd.

Omdat het allemaal niet zo simpel te verklaren/uit te leggen is, heb ik een linkje voor de geïnteresseerden.
Dit gaat over NFO (natural fibers only) kabeltjes en/met sommige houten RCA's.

Het is moeilijk maken omdat ik te weinig specifiek gereedschap bezit en (klank)hout zoals ebben en cocobolo enorm hard is, dus snel op een nerf knapt als je er (te) veel druk op zet.
Die druk ontstaat automatisch bij uitboren ook al neem je opeenvolgende boortjes van 0.5 mm dikker !!!!....dit komt ook doordat de wand zo dun is (terwijl deze bij mij al dikker is dan een "houten" RCA plug uit de winkel)
Het gat moet uiteindelijk minimaal 9 mm worden voor je kabel te herbergen en ook precies pas zijn dat je het Eichmann schroefdraad niet naar de maan helpt bij het inzetten.

Mijn oplossing is de houten huls voorzichtig en langzaam en in fases uit het blok zagen en daarna met een handvijl op maat brengen.....kost wat tijd maar je hebt ook wat. :-X ;D

Prachtig gedaan Erik!
Maar hoe zet je de houten huls eigenlijk vast aan de 'kop' van de (originele) plug?  Klemt hij of dit er ergens een schroefje?
- Het beste dat we kunnen bereiken is de minst slechte benadering van de werkelijkheid.
- MEET het beter? Dan IS het beter!

Het is plastic schroefdraad dus als je binnenkant huls precies pas maakt kun je de Eichmann kop erin mooi vastzetten/drukken/draaien....... ik geef toe dat moet wel nauwkeurig gebeuren.....maar het is te doen ;)

Voor de eventuele nabouwer houdt er wel rekening mee dat de RCA behoorlijk groter wordt met name in diameter dus standaard socket-aansluitingen kunnen te dicht op elkaar zitten voor deze plug... :-X

Hierbij een foto voor de maatverhouding......de zilveren pennen met kop staan een beetje schots en scheef maar dat komt natuurlijk omdat ik  pas na kabelmontage deze er helemaal in druk/draai.. ;).
