Rudy probeer ook eens pre regulatie...ben wel benieuwd wat jou ervaring hiermee is.

Ik vraag dit omdat superregulators verwisselen wel wat klankverschil opleverde maar de grootste klankklapper voor mij was het uitwisselen van de pre regulatie...gewoon een tippie meer niet  ;)

Leuk die inspanningen maar mij bekruipt het gevoel dat geen hond zich (meer) interesseert zowel hier als het inmiddels doodgebloedde USA Shiga  forum.. ::)

Ik vraag me ook sterk af ..sinds iedereen dat Vicolboardje daar heeft aangeschaft is de hobby/modificatie drift gelijk om zeep gegaan en niemand meld zich meer daar...achter de schermen krijg ik veel mail dat er storingen zijn op het boardje dus wees voorzichtig met aanprijzen Rudy... ;)

Wij zijn de laatstgebleven vaandeldragers.... ^-^

Ik wacht af tot de spulletjes binnen zijn.

Daarna zal het kwestie van in elkaar zetten zijn. Tweaken wordt in zover lastig omdat 0 verstand van electronica en 2 linkerhanden. Heb laats een half uur lopen zoeken naar het batterijklepje op een hamer..... :nopompom:

Kan ik begrijpen daarnaast is het gewoon een vreselijk gaaf project...dus je zal echt je lol er wel van hebben...wees niet bang. 8)

Waar ik meer op doelde was dat er werkelijk -tig deelnemers/kopers waren op het USA maar na de aanschaf van Vicol heeft NIEMAND meer gepost niet eens een werkend gebakje...laat staan modificaties...voorheen wel "honderden" op het forum met hun boombox en modificaties/experimenten .....daarna....licht uit... :o

Denk dat het te maken heeft met een Vicol Shiga is aansluiten en spelen maar kan eigenlijk niet verkeerd gaan vandaar dat je niks meer hoort.
Niet iedereen maakt foto's om op het forum te plaatsen wat ik dan wel weer jammer vind.

En met de Boombox is b.v. SMD's eruit solderen en andere condensatoren dat allemaal op een ZEEEER gevoelige print.
Zelf een voeding maken enz enz ...
Toen ging het ook heel vaak verkeerd en als het fout gaat hoor je vaak de problemen zodat het weer opgelost moet worden.

Ik heb de Vicol een aantal weken laten spelen en heb geen problemen ondervonden met een aluminium puck die is namelijk veel stabieler dan de magneet puck. (wiebel ding)
En nee ik heb geen aandelen het is leuk als er meerdere Shiga bouwers bijkomen, ook wij kunnen daar weer van leren  ;)

Yepp bouwen en spelen......maar dan ga je echt geen top speler voorbij (Wadia)...ik zie overigens geen reden voor een ieder om het daarbij te laten vooral omdat als ik Tibi mag geloven er nu juist een splitsing is gemaakt om werkelijk alles apart te voeden...en een behuizing moet iedereen wel maken... ;)

Anyway so be it....het moet ook een tikkie exclusief bijven  8)

Hi,

I'll close the list tomorrow.
The project is by far to be a simple one, manly due parts sourcing - DSP and ASP are no longer in production.
I rely on people that understand my effort in making this GB available and patiently wait till I put all pieces together.

Klopt ik dacht enkel dat de nieuwe versie meer voedingsmogelijkheden had...... alleen jammer dat werkelijk niemand hier gebruik van maakt ...maar goed alles is hier al over gezegd...

Ik bouw gewoon heerlijk verder en het gaat nu echt serieuze vormen aan nemen...ben benieuwd hoe ver jij er mee wil gaan na al die inspanningen...leuk.

Vrolijk kerstfeest en dat het een Shiga 2014 jaar mag worden  8)

Which capacitor do you use for this position?

Quote studiozey: Advanced modifications C906 / C8

This is probably the most puzzling of all Shigaclone capacitors.
The stock JVC player uses a cheap-looking 0.1uF electrolytic cap here, and yet somehow it sounds better than most "audio grade" capacitors - both electrolytic and film.
It is thought to be one of the key reasons behind the early Shigaclone "magic".

Function:
It is connected to pin 10 of the LA9242M, and is used to adjust tracking gain time constant (in the Tracking Servo section).

Recommended value:
The JVC player uses 0.1uF; the LA9242M datasheet suggests 0.068uF; diyaudio experimenters (Okapi and others) suggest an even lower value of 0.01uF.

Hi Rudy,

For C906 / C8 I use a tantalum 0.1uF.

Here are my personal findings.
If you go under 0.1uF the tracking constant decrease and mechanics will track faster, but become prone to oscillation and on some disks will loose tracking, generating skips and pops.
If you go over 0.1uF tracking is slow due tracking constant increase. Somehow this also affect variable speed disk velocity as well.
The best capacitor for this position is a low series inductance (ESL), low equivalent series resistance (ESR), low current leak capacitor, high stable over time. The closest is tantalum. Any other capacitor will degrade in one or other way the sound or will offer coloration. Organic capacitors may be very good option as well, but I have not tested.

Original capacitor used in stock JVC player is nothing than a price compromise. Change to a good quality tantalum 0.1uF and things will improve.

Two short movies with a CD-RW and a hard scratched CD-R low B disk.

Going further with SHIGA MKII CD-R (low beta type) scratch disk test. Now 9 scratches grouped in 3. Distance between scratches is 1mm inlet and 3mm outlet.

SHIGA MKII SACD test. Reading CD layer from a hybrid SACD disk.
As you may know, on a SACD the DSD high-resolution data and CD data are encoded on the different layers. Due the fact that CD optical have a longer focal length, the beam will focus only on the bottom layer, which is designed for CD, "ignoring" DSD HD layer. However, the amount of C1 errors when reading a Hybrid SACD is bigger than on a traditional pressed CD, as the result some players will fail in this regard.

Klopt, ook klinken de hybriden aanzienlijk slechter pak maar eens de cd " The girl in the other room" van Diana Krall en luister daarna naar de cd layer van de hybride SACD dan schrik je je rot. :o

Im pleased to let you all know that SHIGA MKII on Gold plated boards sound even better. :-)
This is also related to Copper 2/2oz thickness which is much higher than original JVC.
