Ach als je ziet wat we aan kabels etc uitgeven  , maar inderdaad 330 euro is een hoop geld.
Die Vishay weerstanden zijn nou ook niet bepaald goedkoop (als je googled dan kom je een prijs tegen van 25 euro/stuk)  en dan komt het uurloon er nog bij.

edit: ik zie ook goedkopere prijzen voor die vishay weerstanden, het is maar net welk type je nodig hebt

het vervangen van onderdelen kun je wel zelf,het aanpassen van het circuit dat is modificeren.

Net even de Audiolab M-Dac firmware geupdate naar de laatste versie.

Installation:

1. Insure MDAC is connected to PC via USB - selected to USB input and the MDAC Display indicates "Ready".

2. Insure no other software is operating on the PC (anything that could interrupt the upload process to the MDAC).

3. Run the program, once the PC has found the MDAC, press Y to start update, the computer should report a successful upload after about 3 seconds for the mainboard & 11 seconds for the Front panel.

You can push and hold the MDAC's Volume Knob on power-up to indicate the software versions.

Added safeguard to detect stuck samples on the input as has been reported for Asus Xonar soundcard. This issue might possibly happen elsewhere as well, so the output is muted to prevent DC on the analog output.

D3E indicator no longer flickers when playing from Vista/7/8 when peak limiter kicks in.

Going into mute will pause the playback via USB. Similarly pressing play on M-DAC's remote clears mute.

Logitech Squeezebox Touch / Async USB

Asynchronous USB provides a jitter-free connection to the M-DAC similar to a "clock-locked" CD transport, and this makes it the preferred connection method over Coax and Optical. Unfortunately, out of the box, the Logitech Squeezebox Touch (SBT) does not support Asynchronous USB connectivity as an option.

However, by applying a 3rd Party SBT firmware modification, M-DAC owners can now benefit from true asynchronous USB between the SBT and M-DAC, with the M-DAC providing the high quality master clock.

A huge thank you to Adrian ("Triode" on the SlimDevices forums) for all his hard work in developing the excellent Enhanced Digital Output (EDO) app.

Ik heb nu een tijdje zitten luisteren naar de M-Dac update A.10, en ik vind het een enorme muzikale verbetering t.o.v. versie 0.9. Had al eens eerder een update gedaan, maar vond het er niet echt beter op worden. Dus destijds weer teruggedraaid naar de originele versie. Deze update zorgt voor een "zwartere achtergrond" in de muziek. Meer rust en stilte. Ik houd er wel van.

Echt een aanrader wanneer je een M-Dac hebt, update is zo gebeurd en kun je altijd weer terugdraaien. Bovendien geeft deze update ook input labeling, dus je kunt de digitale ingangen nu voorzien van een naam. De originele firmware had ook problemen om de dac mode vast te houden, als ik nu de voorversterker functie uitschakel dan houd hij dit ook vast...zoals het hoort.

Ik heb de Touch nog niet via usb aangesloten, ga ik wel even proberen. Overigens nu weer de goedkopere apogee wide eye ertussen, dat klinkt toch wel lekker hoor! Ja het houten rek is weg, kon ik boven wel gebruiken. Ben over de opstelling nog niet helemaal tevreden maar voorlopig kan het er mee door . De buizenvoorversterker word handwarm, niet iets om druk over te maken. Achterkant van het meubel is er helemaal uit. De M-dac word veel warmer .

Haha je hebt helemaal gelijk, maar om deze speakers nu midden in de kamer te zetten. Dat lijkt me niet zo'n strak plan met 2 kleine kinderen. Op zich kunnen deze speakers best dicht tegen de wand aan, ik heb niet echt een laag probleem. Het is een volledig gesloten systeem, maar als je ze iets meer de ruimte geeft dan klinkt het wel beter.

Ik moest op de Touch nog de Enhanced Digital Output installeren (EDO) , en nu speelt de SBTouch via USB!
Ik heb er nog geen usb hub tussen, dus ik moest een work around optie selecteren...dan zit je helaas aan een maximale 44/48k sample rate...dus maar even een usb hub aanschaffen.

Maar het verbaast me hoe goed het via een goedkoop usb kabeltje klinkt  , lijkt wel of er veel meer informatie van de plaat wordt gehaald. Morgen verder luisteren....eerste indruk is in ieder geval zeer positief!

I've posted a new applet to the 3rd party apps list for Squeezebox Touch. This is designed to enhance the digital output capabilities of the device for use with external Dacs. It is based on the software which people have helped me test on the "Async USB Dac Experiments" thread but should now be suitable for less experienced users to install.

The app should add support of the following to your Squeezebox Touch:
- External USB dacs using either USB audio class 1 or 2 protocols [USB 1 dacs normally state they support up to 96k sample rates, USB 2 dacs normally state up to 192k]
- Support of 176 and 192k playback via the standard digital output

There are a number of limitations to be aware of:
1) USB 1 dacs which operate in asynchronous mode probably need an external high speed hub to work without "clicks" - this is due to what appears to be a limitation in the Touch hardware. It is completely resolved with a cheap (<$10) bus powered hub connected between the dac and squeezebox. There is a workaround option which works with some dacs if a hub is not used, but it limits playback to 44/48k sample rates. At present is has only been proved to work with Audiolab/Lakewest dacs.
2) USB support does not yet support hot plugging of usb dacs - please connect your dac and leave turned on at present [this is likely to improve in future]
3) 192k playback requires a dac which supports it and is only supported with flac files using native decoding at present. [In future 7.8 LMS and firmware should support 192k wav streaming] It will also require sufficient bandwidth on your network.
4) Only one output can be selected at once, this means when a USB dac or the Digital Output are selected there will be no sound on the analog outputs.

The app is called "Enhanced Digital Output" and is the main 3rd party apps list.

To install, please following the following steps:
1) Ensure your Squeezebox Touch is running 7.7.x or later firmware
2) Go to Apps Gallery -> 3rd Party Apps on the touch screen
3) Deselect the "recommended applets only" option, so that you see a longer list of apps
4) Select "Enhanced Digital Output" and select it for installation
5) Your touch should download the app, reboot, then download a new custom linux kernel and reboot again
6) You should now get a list of possible output devices - this should include "Digital Output" and your USB Dac if it is plugged in, select the appropriate output
7) Touch should reboot again and then be ready to start playing with the selected output

If you want to change the output go to Setting > Audio Settings > Digital Output; if you want to change some of the advanced options go to Settings > Advanced > Digital Output

Please note that if you perform a firmware update, then the app and kernel will need to be reinstalled, this should be automated just requiring you to install the app again or to have the "reinstall after update" option selected from the 3rd party apps list.

If you want to completely remove the app, then uninstall it and force a firmware upgrade to reinstall the Logitech firmware and kernel.

Please post your feedback on this thread - I would like to create a list of USB DACs which are known to work with it, we started that on the experiment thread, but I think it would be cleaner to maintain a list here.

Mooi wark! Maar waarom moet er een usb hub tussen? Kan het niet gewoon met een usb kabel uit de Touch rechtstreeks in de dac?

Bedankt! Heeft te maken met een beperking in de logitech hardware, zonder de workaround hoor je "clicks" in het geluid. Maar met die workaround kun je dus geen 24bit 96k bestanden spelen, gisteren getest met metallica black album....jammer.

Ze hierboven voor een verdere uitleg.

De furutech kwam zeker niet als betere uit de test alhier.

Klopt gedeeltelijk, echter bepaald eigenschappen die beschreven staan kun je universeel noemen, als een kabel hier als helder, open te boek staat, zal de kabel dat elders in meer of mindere mate ook doen.

Oke...beetje kip/ei verhaal lijkt me en dus extra moeilijk om wat zinnigs te zeggen over een kabel. Want we hebben nog niet eens de invloed van speaker en akoestiek meegenomen in dit vergelijken.
