America Can't Wait For New Eminem Album...Release Date Moved Up To May 28 To Shortcut Internet Piracy And Bootlegging

Santa Monica, CA - May 18, 2002 - Due to the unprecedented level of internet piracy, illegal bootlegging and overall demand of Eminem's upcoming The Eminem Show (Aftermath/ Interscope), the album's release date has been moved a week earlier than previously announced, to May 28, 2002.

In addition, the first 2,000,000 copies released domestically will be issued in a limited edition which includes a DVD featuring behind-the-scenes and performance footage as well as an animated cartoon.

Says Eminem: "Obviously everybody wants this record now. We're putting it in stores as soon as we can so they can buy a real copy."

Changing the date on a release of this magnitude because of digital piracy was unheard in the music business--until now. Says Bob Higgins, Chairman and CEO of Transworld Entertainment, operator of FYE, Coconuts, Strawberries and Specs, and the largest specialty music retailer in the United States with 900 stores: "It's a shame there's so much counterfeiting that the release date had to be moved up, but we now can offer a great added value package with the free DVD. We're unhappy about the circumstances even though we're happy to see it a week early because it's definitely in demand."

Adds Steve Berman, Interscope Geffen A&M head of sales and marketing: "In today's digital universe, where piracy and bootlegging are occurring in every city in the world, we had no choice but to respond to an enormously frustrating problem. With the support and cooperation of both the artist and our partners at retail, we are doing everything we can to ensure a smooth transition to the new street date."

Eminem's last album, The Marshall Mathers LP, released in 2000, has been certified eight times platinum. 1999's The Slim Shady LP is quadruple platinum. Eminem has sold more than 25 million albums worldwide to date.

There is explicit content on the CD and DVD.
