ik was er niet bij (was al uitverkocht) maar van de diverse verslagen kan je al heel wat moois om te ontdekken vinden

Album beluisterd. Degelijk werk en leuk maar niet opzienbarend; het laatste nummer was het beste. Zanger niet bijzonder , beetje jeuzelig.

Het album is helaas niet op Tidal te vinden (zoekfout ) en start naar mijn smaak wat traag.
Als je maar één nummer wilt luisteren luister dan naar Death of Democracy.

Based in Oslo, Norway, composer Helge Sten has been crafting this music since the early 90s, a deeply atmospheric, grainy minimalism that slows time down and explores the very particles of sound itself.

The Deathprod concept arose in 1991, when Helge realised his complex array of homemade electronics, samplers, sound processing and analogue effects – cumulatively known as the 'Audio Virus' – could add a musical dimension above and beyond the merely technical. Almost obsolete samplers and playback devices distort and transform sounds into unrecognisable mutations of their former selves. The virus breeds layers of complex and overlapping sonic debris, creating a kind of cellular composition.

Helge is a founder member of Norwegian improvising group Supersilent and has produced records by Motorpsycho, Susanna, Jenny Hval, Arve Henriksen and others. In 1998, alongside Biosphere, he electronically transformed the music of Norway's leading contemporary composer, Arne Nordheim. More recently he composed music for Harry Partch's legendary invented instruments for the Cologne based Ensemble Musikfabrik.

Now the core trilogy of Deathprod albums will be released for the first time on vinyl and download – cut to vinyl by Rashad Becker at Dubplates and Mastering in Berlin. Together they form Deathprod's complete official canon.

'Morals and Dogma' –

'Morals and Dogma' is a ritual. Ten years in the making, it contains four pieces, recorded between 1994 and 1997. This is Deathprod at full intensity, featuring an even more expansive and billowing sound as Sten transforms and blends the textures of violins, saw and harmonium. Pieces like "Dead Peoples Things" and "Tron" were revised numerous times, even though the very first versions of both were chosen for the final sequencing of the album. Both Ole Henrik Moe and Hans Magnus Ryan contribute with their unique approach to the violin, while Moe extends the metallic and textural qualities of "Cloudchamber," utilizing a musical saw. The harmonium on "Orgone Donor" was recorded direct to cassette by Hans Magnus Ryan, and later multi-tracked with dual violins at Audio Virus LAB. "Cloudchamber" is layered with electronic treatments of the decay and noise, from a Maestro Echoplex tape-echo machine, and also lends it title from one of the beautifully crafted microtonal instruments of Harry Partch.

First released on Rune Grammofon in 2004, this has been pressed from the 2004 original high resolution master.

Hiervan had ik redelijk hoge verwachtingen maar ik vind het een ordinaire melkkoe.
Jammer ... de meeste nummer zijn al eerder gedaan en minstens zo goed.

Missing Islands

Missing Island is the sequel to the highly acclaimed Volutes (2020), and again sees multi-instrumentalists Christine Ott and Mathieu Gabry joined by violist Anne-Irène Kempf on most tracks. This new chapter in the natural history of Snowdrops is lent an earthier texture by the hand-pumped organ, performed by Christine Ott.

The opening of the album 'Retour à la terre' could, explain Snowdrops, borrow these few verses from Rainer Maria Rilke:

"Everything is gestation and bringing forth. To let each impression and each germ of feeling come to completion wholly in itself, in the dark, in the inexpressible, the unconscious, beyond the reach of one's own intelligence, and await with deep humility and patience the birth-hour of a new clarity"

First single 'Firebirds' unfolds like a fiery dance for piano, strings and ondes Martenot, on which Ott lets her inimitable technique speak in a series of lyrical glissandos from the lowest to the highest register. This evocation of the four elements continues with 'Land of Waves', music for the great outdoors, on which Mathieu Gabry simultaneously plays piano and analog synthesizer.

The album's second half offers a deeper and metaphysical turn. 'Nostalgia de la luz' is clearly inspired by the documentary of the same name, directed by Patricio Guzmán; in the movie, astronomers from all over the world gather in the Atacama Desert to observe the stars. It is also a place where the dryness of the soil keeps human remains intact: those of mummies, explorers, but also the bones of political prisoners of the past dictatorship. While astronomers scan the galaxies in search of probable extraterrestrial life, at the foot of the observatories, women move the stones in search of their missing relatives.

In their own way the last three pieces each reduce this verticality, this connection between the infinitely small and the infinitely large, the past and the present, the human and the environment. Missing Island is also a story of Paradise and Paradise lost, a recurring theme in Christine Ott's discography (TABU, Time to Die...). At the end, the trio produces a rainbow of feelings that could equally evoke Hania Rani, Warren Ellis and Esmerine, but in a personal breathe that is unique to Snowdrops.
