Private Dick 'Mike Hammer' Returns In Feature Film Mike Hammer: Song Bird

Stacy Keach's original portrayal of the title character is revived in the new feature January 28.

Miami, FL, (December 2, 2002), -- MTI Home Video, the leading independent home entertainment studio, will release Gator Entertainment's new feature film, Mike Hammer: Song Bird, from the hit 80's classic television series, Mike Hammer. The feature film will be available on VHS and DVD January 28, 2003 (prebook: January 9, 2003).

Mike Hammer: Song Bird will be available on DVD (sellthrough priced at $24.95 SRP) and on VHS (priced for rental at $89.95 SRP). The VHS will be available in both English and English with Spanish Subtitles, as well as a money saving two-pack (VHS - $129.95 SRP). Special DVD features include chapter selection, interactive menus, and optional Spanish subtitles.

The feature stars Stacy Keach (Titus, American History X, Escape from L.A.), Shannon Whirrey (Black Scorpion, Me, Myself & Irene, Animal Instincts), Frank Stallone (Tombstone, Hudson Hawk, Barfly), Shane Conrad (Next Friday, The Brady Bunch Movie), Kent Williams (Living Dangerously, Dead on Sight), and Peter Jason (Ghosts of Mars, Detonator). The film was written by Peter McGovern and Michael O'Connell, directed by Jonathan Winfrey, and produced by Jay Bernstein.

Mickey Spillane's classic private eye character, Mike Hammer (Keach), is a two-fisted private eye who's tough and honest. This time, his exploits take him deep into the underbelly of New York's seamy Jazz Clubs and into the arms of a noted female Jazz singer who becomes the chief suspect after her mob-boss boyfriend and fellow band members start to drop dead. Soon everyone is after her- the cops, the mob, and a hired hit man- it is now up to Hammer to keep her alive.
