Mariza - Fado

Enkele jaren geleden zag ik Mariza (voor haar optreden London, waarover zo meer). Het was me allemaal te luidruchtig, te elektronisch tot tegen het einde van het concert; ze zei nog dat ze de indruk had dat wij haar muziek niet echt waardeerden en ik dacht: gelijk heb je. Toen begon ze ter afsluiting nog enkele nummers te zingen met akoestische begeleiding und het publiek was veel enthousiaster.

Nu is er een DVD van Mariza: Mariza  - Live in London (dat concert von enkele maanden na haar optreden in NL plaats)

En wat staat over deze DVD bij Amazon (o.a.)?:
'Mariza's first filmed concert performance, and it is stunning. No wonder fado has been compared to the blues: the actual musical content is different, but in terms of both origin (both come from a variety of cultures, in this case including strains of Spanish, Brazilian, and African sounds) and lyrical bent (with its constant element of saudade, roughly translated as yearning or longing, fado, like blues, is mournful, soulful music), it's every bit as deep. Dus: akoestisch en inderdaad: prachtig.
