Kino On Video To Release War Drama "A Year Of The Quiet Sun" On VHS AND
DVD.

Kino on video is proud to announce that on September 24th, 2002, A Year
Of The Quiet Sun will be released on VHS and DVD. Winner of the Golden Lion
at the Venice Film Festival and starring Scott Wilson (In Cold Blood, Pearl
Harbor) and Maja Komorowska (Krzysztof Kieslowski's Dekalog), this poignant
drama tells the story of an American soldier (Wilson) and a W.W. II Polish
refugee (Komorowska) who live an unconventional love story amidst cultural
barriers and emotional shock.

Still traumatized by his experience as a German prisoner of war and by
the massacre of some of his colleagues, Norman (Wilson) decides to remain in
Europe and assist on war-crime investigations. After stumbling on Emilia
(Komorowska), a Polish artist who survived Nazi-occupation, Norman
immediately falls in love with her. But while Emilia reciprocates Norman's
affection, both have to struggle in order to communicate without sharing a
common language and ultimately, to help each other heal from their traumatic
past.

Called by David Sterritt (Christian Science Monitor) a "gentle drama of
love across the boundaries of nationality and speech", A Year Of The Quiet
Sun is a remarkably complex film. It not only deals with the challenges of
experiencing love in the midst of psychological pain, but it also works as a
subtle and intelligent meditation on war itself.

Director Krzysztof Zanussi (Contract, Camouflage, The Constant Factor),
is one of the most important Polish directors of his generation, a professor
at the Silesian University in Katowice and the director of the Polish film
studio TOR. Zanussi has also worked as stage and opera director in Poland,
Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland and Russia.

Kino on Video will release A Year Of The Quiet Sun on VHS at $24.95 and
on DVD at $29.95. This title will be available for preebook on August 27,
for a street date of September 24, 2002.
