D J Qualls, Eliza Dushku and Eddie Griffin Star in Revolution Studios' The New Guy A Hilarious Teen Comedy Coming to DVD and Videocassette Aug. 13

Culver City, Calif. (07/26/02) -The New Guy, a classic tale of a dud turned stud debuts on videocassette and DVD Aug. 13 from Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment. This sidesplitting hilarious comedy from Revolution Studios features an ensemble cast of comedic talent including D J Qualls (Road Trip), Eliza Dushku (Bring It On), Zooey Deschanel (Almost Famous), Eddie Griffin (Armageddon) and musician Lyle Lovett (The Opposite of Sex).

Making his directorial debut, Ed Decter, co-writer of the comedy hit There's Something About Mary presents D J Qualls as the nerdy Dizzy Gillespie Harrison who gets a second chance to be the guy with no past. In The New Guy, Dizzy Harrison is routinely laughed at, ridiculed and picked on. His senior year is nothing but an exercise in pain and torture. After feeling he's had enough, Dizzy decides to change his luck by interacting in an array of misconduct that gets him expelled from school and thrown in jail.

In jail, Dizzy learns the art of bullying and other fine points of "prison cool" from fellow inmate Luther (Griffin). This unexpected duo joins forces and transforms geeky dud Dizzy into hip, studly "Gil Harris." After getting released from jail "Gil" transfers to a new school with a new look, a new story and a completely new attitude. Dizzy becomes a big man on campus and popular with the girls. But when his past resurfaces and threatens to expose the real Dizzy, he must rise to the occasion to show the world exactly what he's all about.

The New Guy, a Revolution Studios production, also features cameo appearances by Jerry O'Connell, Charlie O'Connell, Tony Hawk, Jermaine Dupri, Henry Rollins, Gene Simmons, Horatio Sanz, Vanilla Ice, Kool Mo Dee and Tommy Lee. Executive produced by John J. Strauss, Ed Decter, Michael Fottrell and Greg Silverman. Produced by Todd Garner, Gordon Gray and Mark Ciardi. Written by David Kendall. Directed by Ed Decter.
