Mirage To Launch OMNISAT Speaker – Going Beyond Bi-Polar With Reflected Sound

Dubbed Mirage OMNISAT, this new product from Audio Products International Corp. (API) is a major breakthrough in speaker design that will bring Mirage Omnipolar loudspeaker technology to a whole new audience.

Under the direction of API's Vice President for new product development, Ian Paisley, Mirage pioneered the commercially successful application of bipolar loudspeaker design in the early 1980's, moving on to develop Omnipolar designs that Paisley calls the logical progression from the bipolar concept.

Omnipolar technology uses natural room reflections to create a unique sense of realism. This is accomplished by recreating the same ratio of direct to reflected sound found in nature – 70 percent reflected, 30 percent direct. A traditional speaker is able to produce only 30 percent reflected sound. It is the required additional reflected sound provided by an Omnipolar speaker that creates the musically satisfying Omnipolar three-dimensional sound experience.

Omnipolar designs typically required twice the driver complement, making it difficult to produce smaller more affordable models. Paisley points to the smallest Omnipolar design until now, a $900 per pair tower model, the OM-14, no longer in production.

With the introduction of the OMNISAT, consumers can now purchase a truly Omnipolar loudspeaker in an eye-catching unobtrusive package weighing a mere 7 pounds (3.2kg)

Mounting options for the magnetically shielded OMNISATS are legion: on-wall – upright or even inverted, on available OMNISAT stands, on bookshelf or on TVs, large or small.

OMNISAT loudspeakers, available in black, white and titanium, are sold individually at $350 each. As a complete surround system, including a Mirage LF-150 powered subwoofer, the OMNISAT 6 package has a suggested list price of $2,400. OMNISAT stands are available at $225 per pair. All prices are Canadian.
