APEX Digital Selects Tripath Technology’s Digital Amplifier

Tripath Technology Inc., creators of Class-T advanced 1-bit Digital Audio Amplifiers, and APEX Digital, an U.S. manufacturer of DVD systems, jointly announced the selection and shipment of Tripath's TA2020 digital amplifier in APEX Digital's first line of DVD-based home theater systems. Tripath began volume shipments to APEX last quarter and the DVD systems are currently available retail stores throughout the U.S.

APEX Digital has recently been identified by NPD Intellect as the top market share leader of DVD players in North America, ahead of second place Sony. APEX has averaged almost 20 percent of the total market share since holiday sales last year. In addition, APEX Digital and parent corporation United Delta, Inc. (UDI) became the first Chinese manufacturer to sign agreements with Sony, Philips and Pioneer (the 3/C Group) for DVD patent licensing. With the continuing growth in DVD player market share and the recent addition of a complete line of televisions the APEX Digital brand should reach sales of $1 billion this year.

At the heart of APEX Digital's new HT-100 line of DVD-based Home Theater Systems are three of Tripath's Class-T TA2020 digital amplifiers. This highly efficient, high quality system distributes 250W of power between five satellite speakers and a passive subwoofer for a true home surround sound theater experience. The HT-100 also includes a digital synthesized AM/FM tuner and support for playing DVDs, SVCD, CD, CD-R, CD-R, CD-RW and MP-3s.
