In onze setup staat de centerspeaker onder het scherm. Dit is een gegeven en al een hele tijd stoor ik me al aan de lokaliseerbaarheid van het ding. En het punt is bereikt dat ik er klaar mee ben ;D.

Ooit had ik een Boston VR12, ding stond gewoon op de grond, beetje schuin en daar heb ik (voor zover ik me kan herinneren), nooit het gevoel gehad of het geluid en dan vooral (vrouwen) stemmen, van onder het scherm vandaan kwamen.
Ergens ben ik overgestapt naar de Tannoy D750 en toen is de plaatsbaarheid me op gaan vallen, eigenlijk vrijwel meteen. Ben toen aan de gang gegaan met het gevaarte te verhogen, schuin te zetten, maar echt veel mocht het allemaal niet baten en nu ben ik daar dus wel klaar mee.

Heb vanmiddag nog met het monsterlijke ding lopen sjouwen en vanalles en nogwat geprobeerd maar nee.
Zelfs de plafondpanelen nog gedemonteerd in de hoop nog wat profijt van reflectie te hebben, maar dat deed niet echt wat.
'Denk, weet je wat ik doe, ik zet eens even domweg 1 van de smurf formaat HDi1600's in het midden, gewoon op de grond, klein beetje op de gok wat schuiner gezet en wat schets mijn verbazing, het geluidsbeeld trekt meteen een stuk meer naar het midden van het scherm toe, in iedergeval veel minder storend te pinpointen. Tweeter zat nog lager dan de D750 op zijn opgehoogde, extra schuin gezette center stand.

Ja, de JBL klonk wat ieler, maar er was dan ook verder niets aan afgeregeld en audyssey stond nog met de D750 settings te pruttelen (waarschijnlijk ook nog met een veel te lage crossover).

Dusss.. wat nu...? De D750 is echt een monster van een center en wegdoen zal met hartzeer gaan, maar hij komt momenteel gewoon niet tot zijn recht hier in onze ruimte.
De HDI serie heeft een matchende center, maar dat is ook nogal een bakbeest en in de reviews komt die qua off axis response, niet zo heel lekker uit de verf. De keuze zou dan een 3e HDI1600 zijn als ik die tenminste 1 kan bestellen ergens.

Heeft er iemand nog tips/suggesties voor of tegen het behoud van de Tannoy, is er nog iets wat ik kan doen? Akoestisch transparant gaan, is geen optie wat mij betreft, te ingrijpend.
Andere ideeen wellicht?

De Citation, de HDI op de centerplek werd dat ook.

Mijn rug niet trouwens, dju wat wordt dat ding zwaar als je m 10x in je handen hebt gehad in zo'n ongelukkige houding ;D

Lijkt me gewoon een mismatch, JBLs met de Tannoy.

Front end is weinig vergevingsgezind in speakers.

De jbl?, nee gewoon recht, anders klopt de afstraling van de waveguide niet meer.

Of bedoel je de tannoy op z'n kant zetten? Niet geprobeerd, de aanname gedaan dat de horizontale en vertikale afstraling hetzelfde zijn. Maar is nog wel eens te proberen voor de gein.

En die Tannoy TDC-1 die te koop staat in de markt sectie? Wat een dikke center is dat; wellicht doet ie precies wat je wilt maar dan mss nog wel beter.  8)

Dat is een redelijk dikke center ook ja  ;D.
Ik wil eerst nog ff hobbyen met deze en als ik ga investeren in wat anders, ga ik toch wel meer matchen met de fronts denk ik. Moet overigens wel zeggen dat de "mismatch" me nu niet stoort.
