APRIL 22 | Universal Studios Home Video is offering to replace DVD copies of Spy Game, which hit stores April 9, because of a compatibility issue with some players.

The studio has had reports that the DVD plays incorrectly in Toshiba players. Some Web sites devoted to DVD have also reported problems on players by Pioneer and Sony.

Those with problem discs can call Universal at 888.703.0010 for a replacement disc.

A spokesman for the studio said Monday that Universal expects the problem to affect fewer than 1% of players. The problem is related to the "Clandestine Ops" feature on the disc, which allows viewers to watch deleted scenes within the Robert Redford-Brad Pitt film. In some players, this has caused captions to pop up, and the viewer is unable to turn them off.
