Mission Kashmir Acclaimed Indian Action Drama about Mission Conceived with Courage Debuts Videocassette and DVD on June 4

Culver City, CA (03/18/02) - On June 4, Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment will release the award winning film Mission Kashmir on videocassette and DVD. This beautifully shot film from India combines action and drama with a story that shows the conflicts of emotions that embraces man's inhumanity and the power of true love that conquers all.

Mission Kashmir was named Best Action Film at the 2001 Filmfare Awards, India's equivalent to the Academy Awards. It stars India's acclaimed talent Sanjay Dutt, Hrithik Roshan, Preity Zinta, Jackie Shroff and Sonali Kulkarni.

Synopsis Set in the war-torn Kashmir Valley between 1989 and 1999, Mission Kashmir is a story of Altaff (Roshan), an 11-year-old Kashmiri boy whose family is massacred in front of his eyes by state police hunting a rebel leader. His life is never the same after the deaths, and he is adopted by Inayat Khan (Dutt), the officer in charge of the raid, and his loving wife Neelima (Kulkarni), whose son has just died in a freak accident.

Altaaf's idyllic life with his new parents is shattered, however, when he discovers that the man whom he now calls his father is also the task-force leader who brutally gunned down his family. Fleeing Kashmir, the boy grows up under the tutelage of Hilal Kohistani (Shroff), a brutal militant leader dedicated to a jihad seeking the independence of Kashmir.

After ten years, Altaaf returns as Hilal's instrument of destruction on a mission of annihilation, revolution and revenge. Unexpectedly, he reunites with Sufi (Zinta), a beautiful long-lost childhood girlfriend, and finds himself torn between love and hatred, brutality and humanity, forgiveness and vengeance in this thrilling action adventure where the past meets the present to decide the future of a nation.

Leuke film, maar je moet wel van "overreacting" acteren houden, verwacht geen HOLLYWOOD blockbuster!

Het is hindustaans, maar wie hem ook kijkt van jullie, ik wil graag weten wat jullie ervan vinden.

Khalid
