We mentioned the Australian release, Playback where unaware of it and in fact believed that if it was to go ahead it must be using the old masters. Universal UK have been in touch with the States to get the remastering done.
While I don't want to put anyone off ordering the R4 disks, I would sound a note of caution, look for on-line reviews first and take note of the sound/picture quality. There may be a better, remastered version planned down the line.

Het lijkt me een zeer complete box, en niet zomaar een samenraapsel van episodes. Ook gezien de vele docu's op de DVD's.
Mischien dat ze het als standaard antwoord klaar hebben liggen.
Ik blijf in ieder geval bij de R4 versies. Vindt het een veel te groot risico om zometeen achter het net te vissen. En anders kan ik vast wel iemand blij maken met zo een box voor de helft van het geld als er een betere uitkomt. Ik heb daar alleen niet zo mijn hoop op gevestigd. Het is een oude serie. Maar als je de reruns hebt bekeken dan zien ze er nog best redelijk uit, ik denk dat het allemaal wel goed komt, en een echt superdure box is het nou ook niet (rond de € 100,00).

A Press release in from Universal today states that the eagerly anticipated Battlestar Galactica box set has been delayed by nearly a year! The press release contains the following statement from Mr. Tim Smith of Universal.
"After initially announcing the box set some months ago we never imagined the groundswell of support for this release not only from Australian fans, but also from fans from all over the world. We had received so much feedback from fans as to what they would like to see in the collection - as it stands today it simply does not do a release of this calibre the justice it deserves in order to be ready for its original planned release date.
Many additional elements I had hoped to have ready for our release are still being researched at this very moment in the U.S. and simply would not be ready to make our planned release date. In addition to this, there are major sound and image enhancements being carried out to the original masters. Whilst our local digital masters were assessed and cleared for DVD authoring, it makes more sense to await for the extensive remastering to allow the very best quality that DVD can provide.
In 2003 there will be a lot of activity surrounding the 25th Anniversary of Battlestar Galactica, including a planned new television mini-series. I believe the decision to postpone the release is the best we could make at this moment. I say to fans - you are being heard, just hold out a little longer - you'll not be disappointed".

Met andere woorden: De grote baas in Amerika heeft ons bevolen dat we het niet uit mogen brengen omdat ook mensen in R1 het gaan kopen, en dat schaad onze eigen markt.
Ai, hoe moet ik dat nu dan toch uitleggen... O ja we zeggen maar iets als: je moet helaas wat langer wachten, maar het gaat er wel beter uitzien. PS, het wordt ook 25% duurder.
Affijn, jaartje extra wachten dus.
