And the eagerly anticipated 4-disc extended version of the film will arrive in November (this will include between 20 and 30 minutes of added footage, as was the case with The Fellowship of the Ring). Dat klot the two towers komt uit 28-8-2003 en de 4 disc en november die komt uit rond 11 a12 november
maar ik heb hem al 2 keer eentje met dts en de ander is de acedeme screener dus ik wacht lekker op de 4 disc versie er van

Ik huur hem wel en wacht met een aankoop tot november in ieder geval!
Die eerste versie van the fellowship had ik vorig jaar ook gekocht en wou die toen verkopen toen de 4 disc uit kwam. Maar die raakte je toen aan de straatstenen niet meer kwijt.
Neem aan dat de zelfde lijn als vorig jaar gevolgd wordt...
Idd toch ff huren (1e versie) :)
Ik heb hem al 2 keer in de bioscoop gezien...voor mij hoeft het niet nóg een keer.

"As expected, New Line Home Video has announced the dual release of Lord of the Rings - The Two Towers.
First on Aug 26th is The Two Towers Theatrical Edition, a 2 disc special edition (available in both Widescreen and Fullscreen releases with Dolby Digital 5.1 audio) will feature a modest number of 'making of' featurettes, A 10 minute sneak preview of The Return of the King, and a short film by Sean Astin called 'The Long and Short of It' with an accompanying making of.
On November 18th New Line will release The Two Tower's Extended Cut a super 4 disc extended cut of the film with 40 minutes of additional scenes with new effects and a new score created for the extended material. The Extended edition will be presented in Anamorphic Widescreen with BOTH Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 audio with a number of audio commentaries and comprehensive making-of documentaries.
Pre-Orders for The Two Towers Theatrical Edition will begin on May 9th and Pre-Orders for The Two Tower's Extended Cut begin June 20th."

Same here, ik wacht ook netjes op de 4-disc versie. Kocht ik eerst de 2 disc versie van de eerste omdat ik dacht dat dat er een hoop extra's ivm 'The making of' zou opstaan, was dat dus duidelijk niet het geval :(
Of je kunt ook wachten op de 24 disc Trilogy special edition ;D
Hehe :) Ik vraag me af of die ooit gaat komen, want er staat nu al zoveel extra's op de Extended Version...bovendien ga ik die dan ook niet kopen.

At the DVD in 50 Conference we learned that Peter Jackson has held back some exceptional stuff from the first two Extended Edition DVDs which is slated for inclusion in the final Return of The King Extended Edition. This was done in an effort not to spoil the third film for movie goers before it was released. One scene which was at one point part of The Two Towers Extended Edition (a flash back to the creation of Gollum) has been actually pulled from the Extended Edition DVD to be used in actual upcoming theatrical release for The Lord of The Rings - The Return of The King. One very encouraging note for Lord of the Rings fans who have bought or are planning to buy the Extended Editions - New Line has stated that they are not going to punish loyal fans who buy their Extended Editions buy putting out some sort of other 'Super-Ultimate' Edition or Collection after the third film is out. So your investment in the Extended Editions is safe.

De bioscopen zullen hier ook niet blij mee zijn. Ze kunnen minder voorstellingen draaien door de lengte van de film. Hier in Rotterdam heb je dan ook pech, want Pathe heeft geen pauze!!!!
Nu heb ik wel een hele sterke blaas, maar ik weet zeker dat mijn vriendin dit niet vol gaat houden. :-\

Ik ben echt heeeeel erg benieuwd of ze zich hieraan zullen houden. Ik verwacht van niet. Misschien dat het een jaartje duurt, maar de mega-12 DVD set komt vast. Kijk maar naar de nieuwe 8-DVD set van the alien legacy....

DTS-ES 6.1 Discrete is met een extra achterkanaal. Discrete geeft aan dat het echt als apart kanaal erin zit, in tegenstelling tot het inmixen in de twee surround kanalen ("Matrixed" heet het dan).
Echter is het backwards compatible, dus als je receiver/preamp is ingesteld dat je geen rears hebt, dan doet ie er niet veel mee. Dus geen probleem!

Er is natuurlijk verschil, nl. dat met 6.1 het geluid nog beter te plaatsen is omdat je een extra speaker hebt.
Of het voor jou belangrijk is moet je zelf uitmaken, als je met een kleine ruimte zit heb je met 5.1 wel genoeg, maar als je de plek hebt (en het geld voor 2 extra speakers dus) zou ik toch voor 6.1 of 7.1 gaan.

klopt exact,dit is mijn eigenlijke vraag.
Ik heb die setup cd die jullie volgens mij allemaal hebben,en daarin zat ik een betje te zappen en merkte ik het volgende.
Er is een menu waarin je een 6.1 opstelling kan testen(LET OP IK HEB EEN 5.1 OPSTELLING)
Hij ging het hele rijtje af lfr-cent-rfr-rb-lr-Center back.
Op het moment dat hij center back deed hoorde ik de stem precies achter me ?????
Stiekem hoopte ik dus dat als je een 6.1 track uitkoos in het film menu , hij dit dus ook deed en zelf een soort "zesde" luidspreker creeerde,dmv de "stemmen " door beide achterspeakers even hard te spelen.
Weet iemand of ik het bij het kromme eind heb ??

Het klopt dat als je een 6.1 track op je 5.1 opstelling afdraaid dat je dat iets wat van de center-back hoort te komen, recht achter je hoort: je versterker verdeeld dit signaal dan over je rear-left en je rear-right. Als je opstelling een beetje goed is opgesteld, en beide luidspeakers even hard staan, dan lijkt het voor je oren dus alsof het van recht achter je komt.
Dit heet downmixing (je neemt een 6.1 signaal en maakt er een 5.1 signaal van).

Bij EX en ES soundtracks is het achterkanaal "gematrixt" (gemixt) in de twee surround kanalen. Het is dan aan de decoder of deze dit signaal er weer uitvist of niet. Heb je een 5.1 setup, zal het signaal dat normaal uit back surround(s) komt gewoon uit het midden tussen je twee surrounds komen en ES/EX is dan dus volledig compatible met een 5.1 opstelling.

Volgens mij wel. Ik dacht dat de meeste versterkers (die 6-kanaals geluid aankunnen) deze tracks gewoon downmixen naar 5.1 in dat geval.
Ik weet niet hoe het zit als je een 5.1 versterker gebruikt. Maar anderen op dit forum weten dat vast wel.
