Bowers and Wilkins has added a new speaker to its range, the CM1. Developed in tandem with the B&W 805S the speakers are similar in sound performance. The CM1 is a two-way system comprising 1x25mm (1in) Nautilus™ tube-loaded aluminium tweeter and 1x130mm (5in) Kevlar® bass driver, in a 6.5 litre real-wood cabinet. Using laser-based measuring techniques the CM1's drive units have been optimized to give linear inductance. It is due to this that they are able to draw greater detail from the signal.

The crossover of the CM1 uses just a single component for each of its drive units meaning only the slightest of electronic adjustment is needed to balance the system. The speaker is designed either to be mounted on a stand or shelf mounted using a supplied port sleeve. The port sleeve itself has a hollow centre which alters the balance of the of the CM1's low frequency response but retains overall balance. The cabinet is manufactured from real wood and is available Wenge, Rosenut and Maple finishes with contrasting magnetically attached grilles.

CM1 2-way stand mount loudspeaker ia available now for £500.00. See www.bwspeakers.com for further information.
