Betaalbaar CD Transport de Shigaclone, de opbouw van de Vicol Black Shiga MK2

Mijn Vicol Shiga is al eens terug geweest naar de maker omdat hij geen cd's herkende op 3 verschillende loopwerkjes (nieuw heel even gewerkt, daarna dit probleem). Toen heeft hij het weer heel eventjes gedaan en daarna weer niks. Ik weet niet goed wat ik ermee moet, weer terugsturen (is alweer ruim een jaar geleden) of lokaal een specialist vinden. Ik kan aardig overweg met een soldeerbout, maar hier de fout in zoeken is voor mij teveel.

Zou zeggen vertel dit aan Tibi dat je er geen plezier aan hebt gehad en wacht er niet te lang mee misschien wil hij hem wel omruilen voor de MK2.

For those still looking for a chassis for their Shiga, maybe there is hope.
Except top, which is laser cut stainless steel, the rest of the box is full aluminum.

I still wait an offer for 50, 100 and 200 sets.
This prototype was too expensive.
I'll announce the price here and if people will show interest will proceed further.

Ik heb er nog geen tijd voor genomen. Ik wil het wel proberen, maar het is een beetje lastig met zo'n halffabrikaat diy product qua garantie en het is ook nog eens ruim een jaar geleden dat hij al eens is terug geweest.

Tja Streamen, de "Squeezebox Touch" kan nog niet tegen de Shigaclone op want deze heb ik ook en staat op de fitness kamer 
Maar streamen ga ik zeker een keer voor elkaar maken maar nu nog niet ... maar daar gaan we het hier niet over hebben daar zijn genoeg topics van en dan zijn de kabels ook nog duurder dan de apparatuur

De Shiga MKII speelt nu met de  2 low noise LDO miniregulators and silver-mica deze heb ik beluisterd met een standaard versie en de voorkeur gaat naar de gemodificeerde met 2 low noise LDO miniregulators.
Als jullie de Vicol Shiga MK2 nog niet thuis hebben en niet zien zitten om deze LDO miniregulators zelf te solderen bestel deze er dan gelijk bij of laat deze gelijk monteren op de print.

De nieuwe weerstanden zijn nu gesoldeerd (spdif out) en dat was een verbetering.
Serie weerstand: 270R / 0.4 Watt, Vishay VAR-Series "naked" Z-Foil Resistor.
Shunt weerstand: 100R CADDOCK  / 0.75 (3/4) Watt, MK-132 Series, 1%, Radial Lead, Precision Metal Film.

En de elco's veranderd van de voeding naar 2 x 1000uF Blackgate STD.
Na de diodes, 1 x Blackgate 4,7uF n series (onder de print) parallel aan Blackgate 1000uF.
En de andere na de regulator is een 1000uF Blackgate STD.

Nu een week luisteren naar muziek en na een week vergelijken als er iets is veranderd van het geluid.
Ga nu niet vertellen wat de verschillen zijn met mijn bestaande Shigaclone, daar kom ik nog op terug.

De andere aanpassingen zien er ongeveer zo uit en dat valt best wel mee wat de kosten betreft:

For highly commented C8, my choice is:

Please note that lowering the value of this capacitor may lead to oscillations and instability - tracking loss. I suggest do not go under 33nF. Personally I'll stay on the safe part and use 100nF.

C10 is decoupling laser CCS. A high current low ESR capacitor is mandatory. In this regard oscon/polymer/tantalum are best here.
C43 is the capacitor after internal LA6541+2SB764 regulator. This ensure regulator stability and noise is in direct relation with the ESR of this capacitor as well.

C19 is part of laser CCS. The quality of this cap will highly affect laser operation. Laser current is in relation with voltage across this capacitor. Use the best you can here. BG/oscon/tantalum. My choice BG PK 47uF - still available at partsconnex.

C20 and C23 are part of 2.5V reference. You may have noticed that on all Shiga's these capacitors are polymer in my kits.
The temperature stability of polymer caps recommend these here. The internal structure of LA9242M is in such way constructed that any leakage and internal series resistance of these capacitors will affect 2.5V reference.

My choice for R48 and R49 is Vishay naked.
IMHO the best resistors your money can buy for this application. Exceptional stability, tolerance and noise figures.
These will enhance resolution to dream level. I simply love these parts.

Miniregs - You have construction of these in this thread.

The icing on the cake is C11. Give it a try and be amazed.
Use a 1nF - 2n2F silver mica cap.

Following modification address and improve laser operation of SFP101N-16P Sanyo cd mechanic.
Undoubtedly SFP101N-16P is a very good CD mechanic, but this can be improved further with a simple trick.
Modification is simple but require attention and a steady hand.

We are going to replace a ceramic X5R 100nF which decouple laser diode. This is the worst MLCC type with a huge piezoelectric effect and capacity variation with voltage and temperature is also very high.
As this position is in a very sensitive area, where vibrations and shocks are quite important, I expected some improvement.
Result is astonishing, above all my expectations.
This is a highly recommended modification.

As I said the cap is 100nF X5R.
Almost any capacitor will be better, but must be small enough do not affect mechanic operation. Also big caps with long leads are out discussion here. The cap must be as close as possible to laser.

My choice is Arcotronics MKT. It is good, cheap, have exceptionally low ESR, and small enough to be soldered directly on laser pins.
Another candidate could be VISHAY-RODERSTEIN MKP-1837.

Now about the sound.
I expected some improvement at least in tracking and reading, but the result is astonishing.
This is a completely new dimension ...
The bass ... Wow, the bass get a lot of weight and each instrument have more body. Voices are here, full of deepness and every detail is full of harmonics, much better defined.

I consider this modification the most important and the most effective so far. Give it a try and let me know your results.
